Nine inches across with a seven-eighths-inch rise, this is the compact dinner plate — the size that lets a kitchen plate a full main course while keeping covers close together on a banquet table or in a tight dining room.

Portions look generous on it rather than lost, which is a real consideration for a set menu. The rim is wide enough to grip without a thumb reaching the food.
