The smallest oval in the Japanese pattern, JP-2008 runs 8" by 5-3/4" — a starter and side-course plate rather than a server. Ovals take food that rounds fight: a grilled fillet, a row of gyoza, two skewers laid parallel along the length.
This one is sized for a single portion, and it is the only oval plate in the line packed four dozen to the case, which is what a room ordering by the cover actually needs. Melamine keeps it in service through repeated bussing and racking, and it is dishwasher safe. The Sand body with its abstract Japanese print sits beside the rounds and the sushi rectangles without a mismatch.
