The middle leaf is also the broadest of the three: fourteen and a quarter inches long by eight and a half wide, a proportion nearer an oval than the narrow strip of the ten-inch. That width makes it a genuine sharing dish — a whole grilled fish, a cheese selection, a spread of satay with a dipping bowl set at one end. An inch of depth gives slight containment at the margins without making it a bowl. Twelve to a carton. Among the leaves, this is the one that reads as a centrepiece rather than as an individual course.
