Eight and a quarter inches with a standing rim is the appetiser and salad size, the plate that goes out before the entree and comes back cleared. Its rim is the same inch of vertical wall found on the smaller seven and a half, so the extra three-quarters of an inch of width is all usable face rather than more edge. That makes this the better of the two for anything carrying a dressing or a loose garnish. Twenty-four come in the carton. It falls between the smallest rimmed round and the ten and a quarter in both diameter and case quantity.
