Turn a Japanese bowl over and you'll usually find a carefully trimmed foot ring, the kodai. Tea people actually look at it, and this one has a neat swirl worked into it, so the bottom is as nice as the top.
It's a mini matcha bowl from Japan, glazed in glossy turquoise over soft vertical ribs that make light-and-shadow bands as you turn it. It's still whisk-friendly at 7 ounces, and handy for sauce or a small dessert too.
