Mino potters in Gifu are known for range. Shino, Oribe and Ki-Seto, three of Japan's best-known glaze styles, all came out of the region. This bowl shows the modern side of that, with a reactive glaze that blends purple into pink across the outside.
The glaze decides where the color shifts on its own in the kiln, so no two bowls land in quite the same spot. Underneath it's a traditional shape, round and low, with a smooth pale interior that makes the green of your matcha pop.
