The one-inch rise is the pattern's main entrée depth — enough lip to hold braising liquid or a risotto without crowding the plating surface, which measures close to nine inches of usable face once the edge is accounted for.
It is also the smallest Cambria round shipped a single dozen per carton, which makes it the easiest size to trial before committing. Below it, the CA-109 at nine inches reads as a lunch plate; above it, the CA-112 at twelve becomes a presentation piece rather than a nightly one.
