That wall-to-width ratio is why it handles hot liquid better than a fruit bowl of similar diameter. Soup, chili, oatmeal, a side of beans, creamed vegetables, ice cream with sauce all sit in it without spilling when a tray is carried at speed. It also holds its heat, since less surface is exposed. The 5-3/4 inch AC-18 is the next size up in the same shape. White chinaware, three dozen to the case.
