FX4 & Ranger Raptor Owners: Your truck is equipped with a factory steel skid plate mounted to brackets welded beneath the factory recovery points. While the recovery points themselves are the same across the entire Ranger lineup, the factory skid plate brackets differ depending on whether the truck is equipped with a steel skid plate (Raptor/FX4) or a plastic shield (non-Raptor/non-FX4).
The RIVAL radiator skid plate is designed and stamped to provide better ground clearance and an improved approach angle. Therefore, it cannot be properly installed using the factory Raptor/FX4 brackets, which are designed to accommodate the more curved shape of the factory steel skid plate. Using these brackets with the RIVAL skid plate will result in a large gap between the factory bumper and the front of the skid plate.
Instead, please shop the Skid Plate + Recovery Points Package — a great opportunity to upgrade your factory recovery system to a rated off-road recovery system.
Ranger XL, XLT & Lariat Owners (non-FX4): If your Ranger comes equipped with factory recovery points and a plastic shield, this skid plate can be installed. You may need to loosen the tow points and shift them all the way forward to provide additional clearance for the front edge of the skid plate.

Tap Recommendation: It’s good practice to use a tap on all included hardware and bracketry, or run the bolts into the nut plates a few times before installation to ensure ease of final assembly. We use zinc flake coating on all fasteners, and there may be some residual coating left in the threads.
