About this product

The NaceCare Henry Vacuum: The Quiet Red Canister Cleaning Crews Ask For by Name

It's 4 p.m., the office is still full, and the carpets need vacuuming before tomorrow's client walkthrough. A loud upright would empty the room. The NaceCare Henry PPR 240 commercial canister vacuum runs at 49 dB(A), quieter than a normal conversation, so your crew can vacuum around people at their desks instead of waiting for them to leave.

This is the commercial Henry vacuum, the same smiling red canister that people in the UK call the Henry hoover. NaceCare sells it in North America as the ProVac PPR 240, a 120-volt machine with a 680-watt motor rated for more than 2,250 hours, 120 cfm of airflow and 100 inches of water lift.

It pulls 84% of the soil out of carpet and filters down to 0.3 micron at 99.97% efficiency, which meets the HEPA spec for non-hazardous dust. The 2.5-gallon tank and 33-foot cord let one person cover a lot of floor before stopping, and the whole machine weighs 15 lbs.

The Owner's Insights on the Henry PPR 240

People ask me why a vacuum this simple costs more than a big-box canister. The answer is the motor. NaceCare rates it at more than 2,250 hours and backs it for 5 years when you run it with NaceCare HepaFlo bags. There are no fancy electronics to fail, and the cord winds back onto the head with a hand crank, so nobody wraps it around the hose and kinks it.

At 15 lbs, it goes up a flight of stairs in one hand. I'd put it in offices, schools, hotels, churches and clinics with a mix of carpet and hard floor. Be honest about two things before you buy. It's a dry vacuum only; if you also need to wash out carpet spots and upholstery, Henry's sibling, the NaceCare GVE 370 George, sprays and extracts for $250 more. And the standard AST2 kit is a suction-only floor tool, so if most of your floor is busy carpet, pick the air-driven power head or the battery power brush instead.

Why You'll Love the Henry Commercial Canister Vacuum

  • 49 dB(A). Normal conversation runs around 60 dB, so daytime vacuuming doesn't clear the room.

  • 680 W motor, 2,250+ hours, 5-year motor warranty. NaceCare says that's over double the industry standard, and it uses 43% less energy than 1,200-watt canisters.

  • HEPA-grade filtration. 0.3 micron at 99.97% with the HepaFlo bag and TriTex filter, so the dust stays in the machine instead of settling back on the desks.

  • 84% soil recovery. More dirt out of the carpet means it looks better and lasts longer between deep cleans.

  • 33-foot cord with crank rewind and quick-change plug. If a cord gets cut, it unplugs from the machine and a new one plugs in. No repair shop.

  • Onboard tool storage and wand docking. The wand parks on the machine while you move it between rooms.

  • Thermal overload protection. The motor shuts itself off before it overheats, which protects the motor and the operator.

  • CRI approved and LEED-EB compliant. Useful when your building or contract has green cleaning requirements.

Which Tool Kit Should You Pick?

Every Henry ships with the same machine and a 9-foot hose. The kit you pick decides what touches the floor. Tap a picture to see the kit up close.

AST2, 12-inch combo floor tool. The standard kit, with a 3-piece stainless steel telescopic wand. It switches between carpet and hard floor and suits most mixed floors.

AST3, air-driven power head. A turbine brush spun by the vacuum's own airflow, so there's no extra cord. It lifts more grit out of carpet for $50 more than the AST2.

AST6, 15-inch carpet kit. A wide carpet tool with a telescopic wand and two straight wands. It covers more carpet per pass than the 12-inch tool, so it suits open offices, meeting rooms and long carpeted halls.

AST8, 15-inch hard floor kit. A wide Sidewinder hard floor tool with a telescopic wand and two straight wands. Pick it for VCT, tile and sealed concrete halls.

13-inch battery power brush. A motorized brush with its own 24-volt lithium power wand and a fast charger in the box, up to 50 minutes per charge, CRI Gold approved on NaceCare's electric canisters. It costs $400 more than the AST2, and it's the one to choose when carpet is most of the job.

Is the NaceCare Henry the Same as the Henry Hoover?

Henry is made by Numatic International, the British company behind the red canister with the face. In the UK people call any vacuum a "hoover", which is where the name Henry hoover comes from.

The household Henry sold in the UK runs on 230 to 240 volts and won't work on a US outlet without a converter. The PPR 240 is the commercial ProVac version that NaceCare distributes in North America. It plugs into a standard US outlet and carries the long-life 680 W motor, HEPA-grade filtration and NaceCare's US warranty. So if you've been searching for a Henry vacuum in the USA, this is the one built for it.

How Much Floor Can a Henry Vacuum Clean Per Hour?

NaceCare rates the PPR 240 at 6,000 square feet an hour. That number assumes nonstop passes. After 30% to 50% for moving furniture, edges and emptying, plan on roughly 3,000 to 4,200 square feet an hour, so a 10,000 square foot office floor takes about 2.5 to 3.5 hours with one person.

The running cost is bags. NaceCare lists a 10-pack of NVM 1CH HepaFlo bags at $32. Use them: running the Henry bagless or with another brand's bag cuts the motor warranty from 5 years to 2.

Henry PPR 240 vs PPR 380 and PPR 390

The NaceCare PPR 380 and PPR 390 use the same 680 W motor, filtration and tool kits. The difference is the tank: 4 gallons instead of 2.5, in structural foam, so you empty it less often. The PPR 390 adds a trolley handle and a storage caddy for supplies. The PPR 380 costs $100 more than the Henry and weighs 18 lbs instead of 15.

Want the same long-life motor for less? The NaceCare ProSave PSP 240 has the Henry's 680 W motor and a 2.5-gallon tank, with 98.6% filtration, a cord hook instead of the crank rewind and a plain 3-piece wand, for $100 less with the AS2 kit. For small offices and clinics, the compact 2-gallon NaceCare James JVP 180 is $200 less.

Honestly, for most offices and classrooms the Henry is enough. Go bigger if your route is long and the bag fills before the shift ends. For stairs, fixed seating and tight furniture, the NaceCare RSV 150 backpack vacuum puts the same 680 W motor on your back. If cords are the real problem, look at the NaceCare RBV 150NX cordless backpack vacuum. Or browse every type in our commercial vacuums collection.

Why You Should Consider a NaceCare Vacuum

NaceCare is Numatic's North American distributor, and Numatic has been building Henry in England since the early 1980s, so parts and service aren't going anywhere. The warranty shows it: 10 years on the tank and body, 5 years on the motor with HepaFlo bags, and 2 years on electrical parts and labor. We're an authorized NaceCare retailer, so that warranty comes with every machine. Found a lower price? Call or message us and we'll beat it.
