The Hitachi is a tri-fold futon frame handcrafted from 100% solid beech hardwood and finished with a hand-rubbed natural oil — no synthetic coatings, no VOCs. It converts between three positions (chair, lounger, and flat twin bed) and fits comfortably in apartments, studios, guest rooms, and any space that needs to do more than one thing.
The twin size works for a single sleeper, and the 600 lb weight limit means it holds up to real use. Choose from four finishes: Natural, Walnut, Smoke, or leave it Unfinished and ready to stain.

Suggested mattresses: 4- or 6-inch all-cotton or cotton-and-wool mattresses (or their organic versions). Japanese-style mattresses, as well as those with foam, latex, or spring layers, won't fold properly on this frame. Shown with a 4-inch cotton-and-wool mattress.
