The APR Full Catch Can System replaces your engine's factory Positive Crankcase Ventilation setup with a race-inspired oil separation and drain-back system for the MQB 1.8T/2.0T EA888 Gen 3 platform, covering MK7 Golf, GTI, and R, 5NA Tiguan, MK1 Arteon, 8V A3 and S3, and 8S TT and TTS. It addresses three real problems with the factory system: oil vapor fouling the intake tract and lowering effective octane, diaphragm and N80 valve failures that cause boost leaks and crankcase over-pressurization, and oil starvation under hard driving or track use.
The factory PCV is removed entirely and replaced with a diaphragm-free billet top plate, eliminating the boost-activated failure points of the stock design. The active charcoal filter port remains in place with an added check valve for extra protection, and internal baffling keeps oil from spilling out. Crankcase gasses then route through the APR catch can, where multiple layers of internal baffling trap oil and moisture before letting cleaner gas continue through the system.
Important Compatibility Information
This system does not work on PCV setups with an integrated blowby sensor, such as vehicles with the DETA engine code. Vehicles with a washer fluid reservoir mounted over the factory engine mount need the version that includes the APR Full Catch Can Washer Reservoir to clear the install; choose that variant if your car has a reservoir in that location.

Installation Notes
APR publishes a full installation guide for the PCV top plate and catch can. There's no service interval for the top plate itself; the can just needs to be emptied periodically once it starts to fill.

How often do I need to empty the can?
There's no fixed interval. Check it periodically and drain it through the integrated valve once it starts to fill.
Will this fit my car if it has a washer fluid reservoir over the engine mount?
Choose the kit variant that includes the APR Full Catch Can Washer Reservoir, which is built specifically to clear that reservoir location.
Does this work with the DETA engine code?
No. Vehicles with a PCV system that has an integrated blowby sensor, including the DETA engine code, are not compatible with this system.
Is this a simple inline catch can?
No. It fully replaces the factory PCV top plate in addition to adding the catch can, addressing the diaphragm and N80 valve failure points rather than just catching what leaks past them.
