Black, six inches square, walled to 1-3/4 inches, fourteen ounces to the brim: a deep plate rather than a bowl. The dark interior is what sells it to pasta and rice sections - a pale risotto or a coconut curry sits in it with an edge that a white well takes away.
The plate is shallow enough that a fork reaches the base comfortably, which separates it from Rome's square bowls on the same six-inch footprint at twice the depth. The wall holds a sauce through a run from the pass to a far table. Melamine, dishwasher safe, break-resistant. Four dozen to a case.
