An 11-1/2 inch round pasta bowl holding 24 ounces, an inch wider than the 10-1/2 inch version and eight ounces more in the well, which is the jump from a lunch portion to a dinner one. The low wall and generous rim let a kitchen build height in the centre and still keep sauce off a diner's sleeve. A rolled edge takes knocks on a dish rack.
Use it for a plated main that carries liquid: a cioppino, a braise over polenta, a bowl of mussels. The flat rim doubles as somewhere to park a shell or a spent bone. Twelve to the case matches the way a kitchen buys its dinner service, a dozen at a time as breakage takes them.
