A rim bowl has a flat shoulder running around a sunken well, and the OC-7209 uses that shoulder as a frame: nine inches overall, two and a half deep, twenty-four ounces. The rim gives a server somewhere to hold the piece with a thumb clear of the food, and gives the kitchen a band of plain glaze to garnish against.
It is the deepest of the three nine-inch deep rounds in Ocean and holds the most, so it takes a soup with substantial solids where the shallower two would overflow. Twelve to a carton. Where the salad plate at this diameter is a presentation piece, this one is working crockery.
