The NR-9 dinner plate measures 9-1/2" across, half an inch wider than the NR-8, and that half inch is the difference between a tight cover and a comfortable one. It is the size for an entree that arrives with its own garnish or a side that will not be served separately, and it still fits a standard plate cover and a standard heated well.
Operations running two dinner rounds commonly put the NR-8 on lunch and the NR-9 on dinner, which lets the kitchen signal portion size by plate alone. Like its 9" sibling it carries a 1" profile and ships two dozen to the case.
