Seven and a quarter inches along the long edge with a one-and-one-eighth-inch wall, this trapezoid salad plate has enough rise at the edge that a dressed salad can be walked across a room at pace without a leaf going over the side.
In storage the straight edges are the point. A trapezoid has to be racked with its corners aligned or the column leans, and once it is squared up the salad plate packs flush against a shelf wall instead of leaving the band of dead space a round shape leaves behind. A cold station can run two squared columns side by side where one round stack and its wasted margin would otherwise sit.
