About this product
Is the Shimano M70T3 the Right V-Brake Shoe for Your Brakes?
The Shimano M70T3 is a Shimano V-brake shoe set offered as an option on many Shimano linear-pull brakes, including XT BR-M770, Deore LX BR-M580 and BR-T670, Deore BR-M530, and DXR BR-MX70. It uses a one-piece shoe design that bolts directly into the brake arm rather than a cartridge holder system. The M70T3 compound is made for Alumite (anodized aluminum) rims only. Shimano says it performs especially well in wet conditions and runs quieter, with the trade-off of faster rim wear and a tendency to fade.
Because the M70T3 uses a direct-mount, non-cartridge design, future replacements require the complete shoe set rather than cartridge inserts. There is no cartridge holder that accepts interchangeable pads. Shimano lists it as an option on XT, Deore LX, Deore, and DXR V-brake calipers, among others. Each package includes one pair of brake shoe assemblies for Alumite rims. For riders who want a quieter shoe with strong wet-weather braking, the M70T3 is a good fit.
