Why Do BR-M770 Riders Choose the Shimano S70C Brake Shoe?
The Shimano BR-M770 S70C Brake Shoe Set is a replacement shoe set for Shimano XT BR-M770 V-brake calipers, using the S70C compound, one of the two shoes Shimano lists as standard on BR-M770. Shimano says S70C performs well in dry conditions and tends to be low noise, and rates it quieter than the M70R2. The trade-off is wet braking: Shimano rates S70C's wet power 2 out of 5 and notes it wears in muddy conditions. The cartridge-style holder lets you replace a worn pad without removing the shoe from the brake arm.
The cartridge holder mounts on the brake arm with a threaded post. Take care with pad alignment and toe-in on installation, since pad angle on a V-brake affects noise and wear. Compatible with Shimano XT BR-M770 and other Shimano V-brake caliper families using the standard cartridge shoe format, for use on aluminum rim braking surfaces only. Each set includes one pair of complete brake shoe assemblies with S70C compound installed.
