About this product
The Hasami Porcelain Tall Bowl in Gloss Gray is a blend of crushed Amakusa pottery stone and clay under a glossy light gray glaze with faint dark specks in it, and a bare, unglazed rim that reads as a pale line around the top. It is the deeper of the line's two bowl shapes, close to three inches at the middle size, and smooth in the hand where the glaze runs. The glaze and the clay react in the kiln, so the color and the specks come out a little different from bowl to bowl; no two are exactly alike. Takuhiro Shinomoto designed it in Venice, California in 2010, and it is made in Hasami, Nagasaki, where porcelain has been produced for four centuries.
Three sizes, and each one shares its diameter with a plate that sits on top as a lid, a wood tray that does the same, and the lower bowl and mug of the same width, so a tall bowl stacks into a single column with the rest of a set.
