About this product
📘 Overview
The Haugen skid steer grapple bucket comes in two configurations for general clean-up, scrap yards and demolition. The MSG scrap grapple runs independent twin arms that close separately, so an uneven load is held at both ends rather than pivoting on the high point. The MSGS bucket grapple uses a single full-width clam with bolt-on teeth.
Both come in 72", 78" and 84" widths on 2-1/2" x 10" industrial cylinders, with removable side plates. The MSG includes a weld-on high carbon edge and a 5/8" x 8" bolt-on cutting edge; the MSGS ships with bolt-on side plates.

This is the choice that matters, and it comes down to what your loads look like.
- MSG scrap grapple — twin independent arms. Each arm closes on its own, so a load that is thicker at one end is gripped at both. Pick up a mixed pile of pipe, timber and sheet and the arms follow the shape instead of clamping the high spot and letting the rest slide. This is what a scrap yard wants.
- MSGS bucket grapple — one full-width clam. A single arm with bolt-on teeth spans the whole width, applying even pressure across a uniform load. Simpler, lighter by around 70 lbs, and better on consistent material — brush, evenly sized debris, general clean-up.
The MSG also has a slightly larger opening, 37.75" against 36.00", and comes with both a weld-on high carbon edge and a bolt-on cutting edge so the wear surface is replaceable.
🔩 Removable Side Plates — Bucket or Demolition Grapple
Both configurations have removable side plates. With them fitted you have a bucket that contains loose material; with them off you have an open grapple that handles long items sticking out either side. That is a genuine two-tools-in-one on a demolition or clean-up job, where you might be scooping rubble one hour and carrying timber the next.
🚜 Skid Steer Compatibility
Universal skid steer quick attach on all six models, so any skid steer or compact track loader with the standard SSQA interface takes them.
Both configurations need a hydraulic circuit to run the grapple cylinders. Empty weights run 925 to 1,110 lbs, which is substantial before any load — check your machine's rated operating capacity and its auxiliary hydraulic flow.
❓ Skid Steer Grapple Bucket FAQs
Scrap grapple or bucket grapple?
Independent twin arms (MSG) grip uneven loads at both ends, which is what mixed scrap needs. A single full-width clam (MSGS) applies even pressure across uniform material and is around 70 lbs lighter. Mixed debris favours the MSG; consistent material favours the MSGS.
What do the removable side plates do?
Fitted, they turn it into a bucket that holds loose material. Removed, you have an open grapple that carries long items overhanging both sides. Both configurations have them.
How wide does the grapple open?
37.75" on the MSG scrap grapple and 36.00" on the MSGS bucket grapple, with 38.00" of bucket depth on both.
Does it need hydraulics?
Yes. The grapple runs on 2-1/2" x 10" industrial cylinders and needs an auxiliary hydraulic circuit. Check your machine has one and that the flow suits.
What cutting edge does it have?
The MSG comes with a weld-on high carbon edge and a 5/8" x 8" bolt-on cutting edge, so the wear surface is a replaceable part. The MSGS has bolt-on teeth on the clam.
How heavy are they?
925 to 1,110 lbs empty depending on width and configuration. That is before any load, so check your loader's rated operating capacity.
What cylinders does the grapple run on?
2-1/2" x 10" industrial cylinders on both the scrap and bucket configurations, which need an auxiliary hydraulic circuit on the machine.
How much do they weigh?
925 to 1,110 lbs empty depending on width and configuration. The scrap grapple with independent arms runs about 70 lbs heavier than the single clam at the same width.
