About this product
ARM's Competition FMIC is built to keep intake air temperatures under control on the B9 S4 and S5 3.0T through back-to-back pulls, whether you're running the stock turbo or an upgraded one. The factory intercooler on this platform is sufficient for light daily driving, but it becomes a limiting factor under sustained boost, aggressive driving, or tuning -- as intake temperatures climb, timing gets pulled and power output turns inconsistent from one run to the next.
At the core of the ARM B9 FMIC is a high-efficiency bar-and-plate design measuring 22.5 in x 17 in x 5.5 in, for a total core volume of 1,485 cubic inches -- 290% larger than the factory intercooler's 511 cubic inches. An added stepped section at the bottom of the core contributes roughly 337.5 cubic inches of that total on its own. The larger core also gives the FMIC a 382.5 sq in frontal surface area, 235% more than the factory unit's 162.5 sq in, so more heat sheds to ambient air and intake temperatures recover faster between pulls.
Why Upgrade
ARM channels the hot-side end tank internally to promote uniform airflow across the core, minimizing pressure imbalance and localized hot spots near the inlet and outlet. The result is better thermal efficiency and more consistent cooling run after run, rather than a slower third or fourth pull as heat soak sets in.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an upgraded turbo to run this?
No. ARM designs this FMIC to work with both the stock turbo and upgraded turbos, keeping intake air temperatures stable in either case.
Does installation require cutting the bumper or fascia?
No. ARM designed this as a direct, OEM-style bolt-on with no cutting or trimming required.
Why does core volume matter for an intercooler?
More core volume and frontal surface area let the intercooler absorb and shed more heat, which slows temperature rise on repeated pulls and helps intake temperatures recover faster between them.
