About this product

Pengo by Paladin
Double flight, 5/16" thick
2" hex or 2 9/16" round

Overview

This Pengo skid steer auger bit — the Aggressor Earth Auger — is the professional-grade auger in the Pengo range, built for daily and constant use. Twenty-six configurations cover 6" to 36" diameters in 36", 49" and 51" overall lengths, from 37 lb to 295 lb, in either a 2" hex or 2 9/16" round hub. It mounts to a skid steer, mini excavator or backhoe through a Pengo auger drive, so hub type and machine drive decide fitment rather than the loader brand.

Key Features of the Pengo Aggressor Skid Steer Auger Bit

  • Double flight technology for maximum spoil removal — the auger clears the hole rather than packing it.
  • 5/16" flight thickness, specified for the long-term durability daily use demands.
  • Cast alloy steel hub and one-piece cast head, the two components that take the torque.
  • Patented TriFlow pilot gives unmatched auger stability and up to 50% longer wear than conventional pilot bits.
  • 40°/50° dual angle teeth with 3-point lock and bolt fasteners, so attack angle is set at fitting.
  • Two hub options — a 2 inch hex auger bit connection or 2 9/16" round — matched to your existing Pengo drive.
  • Full diameter range in both hubs, so skid steer auger bit sizes from 6" to 36" are available whichever drive you run.

Why Choose the Aggressor as Your Skid Steer Auger Bit

  • Built for constant duty, not occasional use. Pengo positions the Aggressor as the standard others are measured against, and the 5/16" flight thickness is where that shows.
  • Spoil removal is what makes a hole fast. Double flighting lifts material continuously instead of stalling in the cut.
  • The wear parts are replaceable and stocked. Teeth and pilot are consumables you replace on site rather than reasons to buy a new auger.
  • Diameter range covers the whole job. From 6" fence posts to 36" footings on the same drive.

Choosing Between Skid Steer Auger Bit Sizes

Three decisions. Hub must match your Pengo drive — 2" hex or 2 9/16" round. Diameter is the hole you need, 6" through 36". Length follows diameter: 6"–18" augers come at 36" or 49" overall, while 12"–36" augers are 51". Weight climbs steeply with diameter — a 36" auger is 295 lb against 39 lb for a 6" — so check what your machine can carry at reach before ordering the largest size. A 6 auger bit for skid steer fence work and a 24 auger bit for skid steer footings sit at opposite ends of that range — 39 lb against 210 lb.

Which Machines Fit the Pengo Aggressor Auger?

The Aggressor mounts through a Pengo auger drive, which in turn attaches to the machine quick attach. Pengo lists the Aggressor as compatible with skid steers, mini excavators and backhoes. The auger itself connects by hub, so the drive and hub together decide fitment.

Fitment Detail Hub options 2" hex or 2 9/16" round Carriers Skid steer, mini excavator, backhoe Connection Through a Pengo auger drive Soil rating 1–2–3 highly recommended, 3–4 recommended

Confirm your drive hub type before ordering — hex and round are not interchangeable. If you are unsure, contact eskidsteer.com at (866) 757-8337.

Wear Parts for the Aggressor Auger

The Aggressor is a system: the auger body, the teeth around the head and the pilot at the centre. Both wear parts are stocked and replaced separately. The 40/50 auger teeth come in three soil grades and bolt on with a carriage bolt, and the TriFlow 350 pilot bit comes in five grades from standard to carbide. Replacing teeth and pilot on schedule is what keeps the cast head out of the ground — the head is the expensive part.

For rock, the BoRH bolt-on rock head converts this same dirt auger into a rock auger rather than requiring a second dedicated auger. Where the ground will take a driven post instead, the skid steer post driver sets posts up to 8" diameter without a hole, concrete or cure time.

Aggressor Auger Bit Questions, Answered

What sizes does the Pengo Aggressor auger come in?

Diameters from 6" to 36", in 36", 49" and 51" overall lengths, weighing 37 lb to 295 lb depending on configuration.

What is the difference between the 2" hex and 2 9/16" round hub?

They are different drive connections and are not interchangeable. Match the hub to the Pengo auger drive already on your machine.

What soils is the Aggressor rated for?

Pengo rates it highly recommended for soil conditions 1, 2 and 3 — dirt, sand and silt — and recommended for 3 and 4, which extends into clay.

Can this auger bit for skid steer work be used in rock?

Not as supplied. For rock, the BoRH bolt-on rock head converts the same Aggressor auger into a rock auger, which is cheaper than buying a dedicated rock auger.

How long does the pilot bit last?

The patented TriFlow pilot gives up to 50% longer wear than conventional pilot bits. It is a consumable — replace it before the auger head starts doing the pilot work.

What makes this different from a cheaper auger?

Double flight technology for spoil removal, 5/16" flight thickness, a cast alloy steel hub and a one-piece cast head. Pengo builds it for daily and constant use rather than occasional work.

Which auger bit sizes suit fence posts?

The 6" and 9" diameters at 36" or 49" overall length are the usual choice for fence and sign posts.

Is an auger bit skid steer setup different from a mini excavator one?

The auger itself is the same. What changes is the drive — Pengo auger drives are specified for skid steer, mini excavator or backhoe, and the auger connects to the drive by hub rather than to the machine directly.
