The ST-305 is a rice bowl, 5 inches across and 1-3/4 inches deep, rated at 12 ounces. That is a steamed-rice portion for one diner, or room for congee, a noodle side, a fruit dessert or a soup course on a tasting menu.
Its low wall lets chopsticks reach the base cleanly, which a taller bowl of the same capacity will not allow. Asian restaurants and sushi counters run this shape in volume, and melamine takes both the heat of just-cooked rice and the rough handling of a dish pit.
