The MS-106BU is the narrow-rim 6-1/2" plate, and the comparison that matters is with the wide-rim MS-006 at the same diameter. Dropping the broad border gives back usable surface and takes the section from 3/4" down to 5/8", so this is the lighter and more open of the two at an identical footprint.
Narrow rims suit plating that runs to the edge and stacking that has to be dense, which is why the profile turns up in tray service and quick-turn dessert stations. Blue is one of six finishes carried across the collection. The body is extra heavy weight melamine, break-resistant and dishwasher safe; four dozen come to a case.
