Eight inches by five and a half, half an inch of profile — a small rectangular plate with the proportions of a tasting piece. A rectangle this narrow puts food in a line, which is why it is used for three bites set out in a row, a pair of spring rolls, or a single piece of fish with a garnish beside it.

The half-inch face is close to flat, so nothing shadows and the plating stays visible from across a table.
