Four and a half inches across but nearly three inches tall, this bowl is built upward rather than outward — the proportion of a rice bowl, where depth keeps grains hot and gathered rather than spread thin. Ten ounces is a single rice portion or a cup of miso alongside a main.
The tall wall also makes it easy to pick up with one hand, thumb on the rim. Gray inside, black outside, with Birmingham's brushed texture running through both. Melamine holds heat less aggressively than stoneware, so it does not scorch a server's palm when it comes off a hot line. Four dozen per carton.
