About this product
The Wilson 2024 Baseball Classics Series A2000 1679 is a 12.5-inch first-base mitt for left-handed throwers who want a deep receiving pocket with the handling of a more controlled infield pattern. Its single-break design allows the mitt to close cleanly around the ball while remaining maneuverable enough to handle ground balls, popups, and quick plays around first base.
The 1679 uses full Pro Stock leather with a Single Post Web and a deep pocket designed to scoop low throws and secure balls through the stretch. Wilson’s rolled dual welting supports the glove’s shape over time, while Flat Finger Binding makes playing with the index finger outside the mitt more comfortable.
The Blonde leather gives this model a timeless appearance that should develop even more character as it breaks in. Comfort Pro Fit combines a soft ProLux leather liner with a Comfort Sleeve at the wrist, and DriLex lining helps manage moisture during games and practices.
This is an excellent choice for a competitive first baseman who wants an A2000 with a traditional look, a substantial pocket, and a more deliberate player-shaped break-in.
