The factory intercooler on your N54 Z4 35i or 35is is sized for stock boost, and it heat-soaks fast once you start pushing more air through it. VRSF's HD intercooler line replaces it with a custom bar-and-plate core built to keep intake temps down, reducing the heat soak that costs power and raises the risk of pre-detonation and knock.
Choose the core that matches your build. The 5" Stepped HD suits a stock-turbo, bolt-on car, holding intake temps to about a 4-degree rise over a 3rd-gear pull versus roughly 32 degrees on the factory intercooler. The 7.5" Competition Stepped HD steps up to a denser fin pack proven to support up to 850whp with only a 2-degree rise under the same conditions, and is VRSF's recommendation over the 5" core for most builds. For larger upgraded turbos above 850whp, the 7.5" Race core is built to support up to 1100whp and has been featured on record-setting N54 builds.
