The Unitronic UH032-ICA Intercooler and Charge Pipe Kit upgrades the complete charge-air path on the Volkswagen Golf R. It combines Unitronic’s high-capacity direct-fit intercooler with 60mm aluminum charge pipes, reinforced silicone connections and all required installation hardware.
This complete package addresses two common restrictions at the same time: heat soak from the factory intercooler and airflow restrictions within the factory charge piping. It is suitable for stock-turbo and upgraded-turbo builds, with Unitronic rating the intercooler to support applications producing more than 600 horsepower.
The system installs using factory mounting locations and requires no bumper, radiator-support or vehicle trimming.

High-Capacity Unitronic Intercooler
The included intercooler uses a 23.5 × 2 × 16.5-inch bar-and-plate core constructed from T5052 aluminum. TIG-welded T6061 cast-aluminum end tanks and Unitronic’s proprietary internal fin configuration are engineered to improve heat transfer while avoiding a significant pressure drop.

60mm High-Flow Charge Pipes
The included charge-pipe system replaces the factory turbo-discharge and throttle-body piping with lightweight, mandrel-bent aluminum tubing. A 60mm internal diameter, smoother transitions and optimized routing help reduce restrictions throughout the pressurized intake system.

Reinforced Silicone Connections
Multi-ply reinforced silicone hoses replace the factory connections between the turbocharger, charge pipes, intercooler and throttle body. Their fluorolined inner surfaces provide additional resistance to oil penetration, while the reinforced construction helps prevent expansion under elevated boost pressure.
Unitronic Intercooler Testing
Unitronic tested the factory and upgraded intercoolers through nine consecutive dynamometer pulls. Despite higher ambient and intercooler-inlet temperatures during the upgraded-core testing, the Unitronic intercooler maintained substantially lower and more consistent outlet temperatures than the factory intercooler.

Installation
Unitronic rates the combined installation difficulty at 3 out of 5. The charge pipes are direct bolt-on replacements, while intercooler installation requires removal of the front bumper and separation of components within the front cooling stack.
No cutting or trimming is required. Professional installation is recommended for customers who are not comfortable removing the bumper or supporting the radiator and air-conditioning condenser during installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does UH032-ICA include both the intercooler and charge pipes?
Yes. This is the complete Golf R package. It contains the Unitronic intercooler, turbo-discharge pipe, throttle-body pipe, all four upgraded silicone connections, clamps and installation hardware.
Should I also purchase UH035-ICA intercooler hoses?
No. UH032-ICA already includes upgraded silicone intercooler inlet and outlet hoses. Adding UH035-ICA would duplicate hardware already contained in this package.
Does the kit add 600 horsepower?
No. Unitronic rates the intercooler to support applications producing more than 600 horsepower. Actual power gains depend on the vehicle, tuning, turbocharger and supporting modifications.
Is an ECU tune required?
No. The complete system can be installed on a stock or tuned vehicle without requiring an ECU calibration change.
