The Keepsake

The first months, in one box.

The Keepsake is the gift from the person who's the only one sending something: a grandmother, a godparent, the closest friend. Four pieces for the beginning, and the box they go back into.

They're made to be used first: a jumpsuit for the ride home, a blanket for the first weeks, a brush for the first hair. Then, one by one, they can go into the box, and the box can go somewhere it won't be lost.

Why we built it

One gift has to carry the whole occasion. So it's the things that are there at the very beginning, and the place they're kept once the beginning is over.

The box everything goes back into.
A linen-covered keepsake box fitted for the first year: a journal of firsts, a pouch for the hospital bracelet, tags for the first curl and the first tooth, gold scissors and a name card in the lid. The one piece here that's built for after.

For the ride home.
Organic cotton knit, with a wrap front that ties at the side, sent in 0–3 months. The kind that gets folded into the box once it stops fitting.
