The Skyjacker B8551 Black MAX 8500 shock is a direct-replacement front shock engineered specifically for 1973-1991 Chevrolet and GMC Suburban 4WD trucks running 2 to 5 inches of front lift. Rather than a generic universal shock, this unit uses vehicle-specific multi-stage StableSteer valving to keep tires in solid, consistent contact with the road across a wide range of driving conditions.
Inside, Skyjacker's advanced foam-cell technology sets this shock apart from conventional twin-tube designs: as the shock works hard and heats up, the foam-cell insert compresses to compensate for oil expansion, maintaining consistent damping performance rather than fading under sustained hard use. The same foam-cell design eliminates air inside the shock body, which is what allows 180-degree directional mounting flexibility via the 360-degree arc-welded end mounts.
