About this product
Crafted with skill passed down through generations, these beautiful jacaranda wood bowls are hand-carved by artisans of the Kamba Tribe in Machakos, Kenya. The Kamba people are renowned for their intricate woodwork, blending traditional techniques with functional design to create pieces that are both art and utility.
Each bowl is carefully shaped from sustainably sourced Jacaranda mimosifolia, a smooth, lightweight wood ideal for both decorative display and everyday use. The artisans receive fair wages for their work, supporting their families and community. In a region where many children are orphaned, the tribe works collectively to provide care, shelter, and opportunities for the next generation.
Artisans are also educated in reforestation practices, planting seeds during the rainy season to preserve their environment and ensure a sustainable livelihood for years to come.
Whether used for serving snacks, holding keepsakes, or as a stunning decorative accent, no two bowls are exactly alike—each carries the unique touch of its maker and the cultural heritage of the Kamba people.
