This mattress is available in two distinct firmness levels to suit your child's developmental stage:

• Crib Mattress (Newborns & Infants): Rated Very Firm. This mattress is densely packed with extra layers of cotton (approx. 20 lbs) to provide a flat, supportive surface that meets safety recommendations for reducing the risk of SIDS.
• Toddler Mattress (12 Months+): Rated Semi-Firm. Designed for children over 1 year old, this version uses fewer layers of cotton (approx. 18 lbs) to offer a softer, more comfortable feel while still providing healthy support.

Note regarding fit: These mattresses are intentionally handcrafted to 28" x 54" to ensure a snug fit in standard cribs, reducing gaps that could pose a safety risk.
