About this product
Note from DirectSinks about the KWT311-15-316 — This compact outdoor workstation sink is built from 16-Gauge T-316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel — the same alloy used in marine hardware and coastal construction. The wider 15" × 22" rectangular bowl gives you more room for rinsing and prep — ideal for outdoor kitchens, fish cleaning stations, and RV or galley setups.
T-316 stainless contains 2–3% molybdenum, which dramatically increases resistance to chlorides, salt air, and acids compared to standard 304-grade steel. If you're installing outdoors near the ocean, on a boat, in an RV, or on a patio exposed to the elements, 316 is the correct choice.
Why 316 vs. 304? Sodium chloride (salt) attacks standard stainless over time through a process called pitting corrosion. The molybdenum in T-316 acts as a barrier, making it far more resistant in saltwater and coastal environments — Long Story Short: 316 Grade Stainless holds up significantly better outdoors and near the coast.
