About this product

From the Treadline Collection, Men's Lightweight Composite Safety Toe Oxford

Lace-up and be ready for demanding shifts with our low-profile Workline Oxford. This leather shoe with a laidback sneaker-inspired profile is fortified with a composite safety toe, and the oil- and slip-resisting rubber outsole makes this lace-up ideal for long shifts on site or on the warehouse or factory floor.

Key Features of the Carolina CA2321

  • Composite Safety Toe — A non-metallic toe meeting ASTM F2413 for impact (I/75) and compression (C/75), with reduced cold transfer.
  • Static Dissipative (SD) — Absorbs and neutralizes loose electrons, sending charges into the floor; meets the ASTM F2413 SD requirement.
  • 100% Non-Metallic Upper — No metal eyelets or hardware anywhere in the upper.
  • Pecan Brown Leather Upper — Durable leather on a low-cut oxford last.
  • Mesh Lining — Breathable against the foot.
  • Removable AG8™ Dual-Density Footbed — An update to the AG7, with enhanced arch support.
  • Mello/Sphere EVA Cushioning Midsole — Sneaker-style shock absorption underfoot.
  • Cement Construction — A bonded sole that keeps the shoe light and flexible.
  • Oil- & Slip-Resisting Rubber Outsole — Traction on wet and oily floors.

SD and EH Are Not the Same Thing — and This Shoe Is SD

An electrical hazard (EH) boot insulates you from a live circuit. A static dissipative (SD) shoe does the opposite: it conducts static charge off your body and into the floor at a controlled rate. The two are mutually exclusive under ASTM F2413, and the CA2321 is SD.

That makes it right for electronics assembly, cleanrooms, powder handling, and anywhere a static discharge could damage components or ignite vapor. It makes it wrong for work around energized circuits. Its stablemate the Workline boot, CA2320, is the EH-rated one.

A Safety Shoe That Walks Like a Sneaker

The weight of work footwear is what wears you down over ten hours. A composite toe, a cement-bonded sole, and an EVA midsole put this closer to an athletic shoe than a jobsite boot — with the ASTM toe rating intact.

Why Choose the CA2321?

Light, low-cut, composite-toe protection with an SD rating — comfortable enough for a full shift on a hard floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the CA2321 electrical hazard rated?

No. The CA2321 is static dissipative (SD), which is the opposite property. An SD shoe conducts static charge to ground; an EH shoe insulates you from a live circuit. Do not treat this shoe as EH protection — the Workline CA2320 is the EH-rated model.

What does “100% non-metallic upper” mean?

There's no metal hardware in the upper — no steel eyelets or lace hooks. Combined with the composite toe, that removes the metal from everything above the sole. Carolina does not publish a shank material for this style, so confirm before ordering if you need a fully metal-free shoe.

Can I replace the footbed with my own orthotic?

Carefully. In an SD-necessary environment, a replacement insole must itself be static-dissipative — and even then, the shoe may no longer test SD. If your workplace requires a verified reading, check with your safety officer before swapping the footbed.

How do I look after SD footwear?

Keep the outsoles clean and free of insulating buildup, and follow Carolina's care guidance for the style. Where a workplace requires a verified reading, footwear is typically tested periodically rather than assumed.

Is it waterproof?

The CA2321 is a leather oxford without a waterproof membrane, which keeps it light and breathable for indoor and dry work. The Workline boot CA2320 carries a sealed SCUBALINER™.

How does cement construction affect the shoe?

The outsole is bonded directly to the upper rather than stitched through a welt. That's much of what keeps this shoe light, and it lets the sole flex with your foot from the first day.
