About this product

The Circuit Hi CA3538 is a lightweight 8" waterproof insulated composite-toe work boot — 800 grams of Thinsulate™ behind a sealed SCUBALINER™, in a taller shaft for deep cold and debris.

Key Features of the Carolina CA3538

  • Composite Safety Toe — Non-metallic toe meeting ASTM F2413 I/C, with reduced cold transfer.
  • Waterproof SCUBALINER™ — Carolina's sealed proprietary waterproof lining system.
  • 800g Thinsulate™ Insulation — Heavy insulation for cold work (Thinsulate™ is a 3M trademark).
  • Bandit Nutcase Leather Upper — Durable leather with a hiker look.
  • Mesh Lining & Removable EVA Footbed — Breathable and cushioned.
  • Non-Metallic Shank — Composite support with no steel in it.
  • Electrical Hazard Rated — Tested to withstand up to 18,000 volts at 60Hz for one minute without leakage.
  • Cement Construction & Oil/Slip-Resisting Rubber Outsole — Lightweight, flexible, and grippy.

Built for Deep Cold

800 grams of Thinsulate™ is the tier you reach for when you're stationary in hard cold — the microfibers trap air without absorbing water, so the insulation keeps working when the leather is soaked.

Why the 8" Shaft

Height keeps snow, slush, and debris out of the boot. In deep cold that matters as much as the insulation — a low boot that packs snow at the collar will chill your foot no matter how much Thinsulate™ sits behind the leather.

Why Choose the CA3538?

A heavily insulated, waterproof, composite-toe boot for cold, wet workdays — taller, warmer, and light on the foot.

Similar Styles to Consider

Want less insulation? The CA3535 has 400g in a 6" shaft; the CA3536 (brown) and CA3537 (black) are non-insulated. Browse the full Carolina collection at Overlook Boots.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 800g the right amount of insulation for me?

800g is built for standing still in genuinely hard cold — outdoor utility, winter yard work, cold storage. If your work keeps you moving, the 400g CA3535 is the better match, since insulation ratings assume your own movement supplies part of the heat.

Does the composite toe actually help in cold?

Yes, and this is where it matters most. Steel conducts heat away from your toes, so a steel-toe insulated boot goes cold at the cap first regardless of how much insulation sits behind it. Composite doesn't.

How long does the waterproofing last?

The SCUBALINER™ is a sealed membrane rather than a surface coating, so it doesn't wash off. Conditioning the leather and keeping the seams clean is what keeps it working over the life of the boot.

What safety standards does the Circuit Hi CA3538 meet?

The composite toe meets ASTM F2413 I/75 C/75 for impact and compression, the boot is EH rated for electrical hazard protection, and the rubber outsole is oil- and slip-resisting.

How does the Circuit Hi fit?

It runs true to size — order the size you wear in athletic shoes, and choose Wide if you normally need an EE width. With 800g of insulation the boot runs warm, so try it on in the socks you plan to work in; the EVA footbed is removable.

How do I care for the Circuit Hi?

Knock off dirt, wipe the leather clean, let the boot dry away from direct heat, and condition the leather every few months. Cement construction is not resoleable, so rotate pairs to extend the outsole.
