About this product
The Apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter is a wall charger for topping up an iPhone from a standard mains socket, at a desk, at home, or while travelling. It is a 20W adapter with a single USB-C output, made from plastic, and it supports fast charging with iPhone 8 and newer models, reaching about half a charge in roughly half an hour. The same adapter is compatible across Apple's range, including iPad Pro and iPad Air, where it delivers the intended charging performance, as well as AirPods and Apple Watch.
- Note: this is the adapter only. A charging cable is bought separately.
It suits anyone replacing a lost or worn charger, keeping a second one in a bag or at the office, or setting up a spare charging point in another room.
When choosing a USB-C charger for an iPhone, wattage matters in a practical sense: a 5W or 12W adapter will charge the phone more slowly, while this 20W output hits the threshold needed to take advantage of the fast charging feature built into iPhone 8 and later. That makes it worth checking the wattage printed on any adapter before buying, since the physical connector alone does not guarantee a faster charge. The compact, fold-flat plug design means the adapter sits flush against a socket without protruding awkwardly, which makes it easier to use in tight spaces such as behind furniture or in a crowded extension block.
For storage, the folded prongs reduce the risk of bending or snagging the pins during transit, so it travels well in a bag pocket or cable pouch. Because the cable is sold separately, buyers have the flexibility to choose whichever USB-C to Lightning or USB-C to USB-C cable length suits their setup, whether that is a short bedside cable or a longer one for a desk. This adapter is particularly practical for households that already own compatible cables and simply need an additional wall unit, or for anyone standardising on USB-C charging across multiple Apple devices.
