About this product

5-yr gearbox warranty 3-yr motor warranty Lifetime shaft pull-out cover

Overview

The two-speed 5DDT excavator auger attachment produces 4,068 ft-lbs at 3,000 PSI and shifts between torque and speed while drilling, without lifting out of the hole. It is sold here with the mount your boom needs — Single Pin Mount, Double Pin Mount or Backhoe Mount — or as Drive Only for a machine that already carries one.

Key Features of the Digga 5DDT 2 Speed Excavator & Backhoe Package

  • Torque 4,068 ft-lbs at 3,000 PSI and 4,737 ft-lbs at 3,500 PSI, as published by Digga for the 5DDT
  • Recommended flow 10-36 GPM, with 10 GPM the floor for rated torque
  • 2.5 inch hex output shaft taking A6 earth auger bits, RC6 rock and earth combo bits and DR6 dedicated rock augers
  • Drills to 40 inches in earth and 24 inches in clay or shale, subject to ground conditions
  • Digga gearbox with an integrated pressure relief valve, so no external valve block and fewer joints to leak
  • The gearbox follows the bit down the hole, so drive height is not lost from drilling depth
  • HALO Alignment Kit optional — HALO built into the drive hood at the factory, reading plumb to ±0.25 degrees per Digga
  • Shifts between high torque and high speed under load, without stopping or lifting out
  • Case drain hose included; the machine needs the low-pressure return line
  • 10 ft powerlead with a 2-pin connector fitted for the shift solenoid
  • 5 year gearbox and 3 year motor warranty for drilling use, plus lifetime shaft pull-out cover

Choosing the Mount for Your 5DDT

Four ways to take the 5DDT on this page — three mounts and the bare drive:

Mount option How the drive is carried Choose it when Drive Only No mount supplied The machine already has a Digga mount and 75mm linkage Single Pin Mount One pin through the mount; the drive hangs and finds vertical under its own weight Plumb holes on reasonably level ground Double Pin Mount Two pins fix the drive to the dipper, so the boom sets its angle Angled holes, slopes, and holding the drive steady while it collars Backhoe Mount A cradle with linkage and pin, carried from a backhoe boom Backhoe loaders rather than tracked excavators

Pin diameter varies by machine. Enter your make and model with the order and we confirm the mount against your boom before the package ships.

Which Linkage Does It Take?

Every 5DDT takes one linkage size. The linkage is the pinned connector between drive and mount, and its size follows the drive rather than the machine. Digga specifies the 75mm linkage for 1DSS through 7DDT drives, which covers the 5DDT: HI-000393K on excavators and HI-000128K on skid steers. The 100mm linkage (HI-004242K) belongs to the 9K through 30K drives and the 130mm (HI-000046) to the SD range, so neither fits here. All three are listed under Auger Drive Mount Linkages.

What Comes in the 5DDT Package

  • Digga 5DDT auger drive
  • Excavator mount and 75mm linkage, or the backhoe cradle with linkage and pin, unless you choose Drive Only
  • Case drain hose, required on every two-speed drive
  • 10 ft powerlead with a 2-pin connector for the shift solenoid
  • HALO where the HALO Alignment Kit is selected
  • Not included: hoses and quick disconnects, which are ordered separately so length matches your boom, and auger bits, plus the Plug N Play Controller Kit for cab control of the shift

HALO Alignment Kit

Any 5DDT mount choice here, Drive Only included, can be ordered with No HALO or with the HALO Alignment Kit. The name says kit, but nothing is fitted afterwards: the drive arrives with HALO built into its hood, with the extension cable and in-cab 12V plug. Green means plumb, and a sequence of red and green lights guides the operator back when the drive drifts — which matters more on an excavator, where the operator sits off to one side of the hole.

Where the 5DDT Sits in Digga's High Flow Range

The 5DDT is the smallest two-speed high flow drive Digga builds, and the one that asks least of a loader's hydraulics at 10 GPM. The 6DDT above it is another 23 percent up, on the same 40 inch earth ceiling. The 5DDS is the single-speed version of the same size at 3,904 ft-lbs, without the shift, the case drain or the controller, and for considerably less. Max speed is 123 RPM, against 85 on the 5DDS.

Which Machines Fit the 5DDT?

Digga builds the 5DDT package for excavators and backhoe loaders of 4.5 to 8 tonnes, roughly 9,900 to 17,600 lbs. Within that class the decisions are hydraulic flow and how the drive attaches:

Fitment factor Requirement Machine class Excavator or backhoe loader, 4.5 - 8T (9,900 - 17,600 lbs) Auxiliary flow 10-36 GPM; 10 GPM minimum for rated torque Circuit pressure Rated for 3,500 PSI machines Mount Single pin, double pin or backhoe cradle, included unless Drive Only is selected Pin diameter Confirmed against your machine before shipping Linkage 75mm — HI-000393K on excavators, HI-000128K on skid steers Case drain Required; hose supplied, machine needs the return line Electrical 12V for the shift solenoid, and for HALO if selected Auger bits Sold separately — A6, RC6 and DR6 with a 2.5 inch hex hub Hoses Sold separately — see the hydraulic hose kits

Add the 5DDT package to your cart to see delivered pricing for your address. Enter your machine make and model with the order and we check the mount and pin size before it ships.

Drilling or anchoring? Digga warrants this drive for 5 years on the gearbox and 3 on the motor when it is used for drilling. Used for screw anchoring without Digga's Energy Control Valve, warranty drops to 2 years on the gearbox and 1 on the motor, and covers anchoring only up to 12,000 ft-lbs. The ECV has to be specified with the drive rather than added later, so tell us before ordering if anchoring is the job.

Digga 5DDT 2 Speed Excavator & Backhoe Package Questions, Answered

Single pin or double pin for the 5DDT?

A single pin lets the drive hang and find vertical on its own, which is what you want for plumb holes. Two pins fix the drive to the dipper so the boom sets the angle, which is what you want for angled holes, slopes, and holding the drive steady as it collars.

Will this fit my backhoe?

The backhoe option is a cradle with linkage and pin, sized for backhoe loaders in the same 9,900 to 17,600 lb range. It is a different part from either excavator mount and is chosen on this page rather than adapted afterwards.

Why are hoses not included?

Digga supplies the high flow drives auger-only, because hose length on an excavator depends on boom length rather than on the drive. Our hydraulic hose kits come in 6, 8, 10 and 12 ft lengths in half inch and three quarter inch bore.

Does the 5DDT need a case drain?

Yes, as every two-speed drive does. The motor releases internal case pressure as it shifts, and without a dedicated low-pressure return to tank the pressure builds against the shaft seal until it fails. Digga includes the hose.

Which linkage do I need?

The 75mm linkage — HI-000393K for excavators, HI-000128K for skid steers. It comes with the mount packages here. If you are moving a mount over from a 9K or larger drive, its 100mm linkage will not fit the 5DDT.

Can I drill deeper than the drive reaches?

Yes, with bit extensions rather than a frame. Digga's 2.5 inch hex auger extensions and XT25 inner extensions suit the A6, RC6 and DR6 bits this drive runs. Two shorter extensions stack more practically than one long one on a machine this size.

What auger bits fit?

A6 earth auger bits, RC6 rock and earth combo bits and DR6 dedicated rock augers, all on the 2.5 inch hex hub. The 5DDT is rated to 40 inches in earth and 24 inches in clay or shale.

How is shipping calculated?

Shipping is calculated at checkout from the weight of your order and your delivery address, and the charge is shown before you complete the order. These packages ship by LTL freight on a pallet.

On delivery: inspect the crate before you sign. Note any damage on the bill of lading at the time of delivery, photograph it, and email support@eskidsteer.com — a clean signature makes a carrier claim much harder to win.
